Choir news

I had a fresh influx of new faces in choir today, because I am going on two trips with another school's choir in a couple of weeks. One (very long) day trip to Wales, and one (overnight) trip to London. The choir (their's, not mine) is singing in the Royal Albert Hall.

I was asked to bring two children on each trip, so I basically told my kids that they give themselves a chance of coming if a) their attitude is "exemplary" and b) they come to choir. So I had lots of new kiddies come along. Little did they know I actually picked and told the children that I want to come with me yesterday.

Saying that, one little boy who I asked to come, didn't attend choir today. So I might revoke his invitation and give it to someone else... the little blighter.

In other related news, today's choir practice sounded good, for the first time ever. They actually sang the songs, instead of shouting. Breakthrough.

Nothing's happening fast

I am sitting in my new music-room-to-be. I can see stacks of chairs, an abundance of industrial vacuum cleaners, boxes of bottle lids, a large step-ladder, a slightly smaller step-ladder, a pile of empty cardboard boxes, and other miscellaneous rubbish.

I'm not too optimistic that I'll be able to teach in here any time soon. I am told that October half-term is the time that my room will be ready, but I'm not holding my breath.

In other news, my ukuleles have STILL not arrived. Nor has anything else I ordered, except for a new CD player.
